The phenomenal loveteam of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza is still the most popular pair in the country. They have accomplished astronomical achievements for the past two years which have not been done by their contemporaries. As of press time, AlDub remains as the recordholder for generating 41M tweets within 24 hours for their Tamang Panahon Concert held in Philippine Arena which is the biggest indoor arena in the world. No other loveteams have ever filled a venue this huge. Not even KathNiel. Only a few singers have reached the Diamond Record status and Alden is one of those. Their first solo movie, Imagine You & Me, was a certified blockbuster hit which grossed an unpadded amount of 21.5 million pesos and a whopping 120M in only five days of showing. Their ginormous fandom, popularly known as AlDubNation, is the most passionate yet has purchasing/buying power. ADN patronizes every product Alden & Maine endorse. Needless to say, the products were always sold out. As a matter of fact, IYAM DVDs were sold out a few days after it was released to the market.
And now, two years after, there is no question that the popularity of AlDub is still at its peak. In a recent article by Rose Garcia of Abante, she acknowledges that fact. In less than five days, his first solo concert in Kia Theater was sold out. He has nothing to thank but his avid supporters, namely, Aldenatics, Mainenatics/Mainesters, and of course, AlDubNation. Their first primetime teleserye is also a huge success. Day by day, the rating of the show is getting better & higher; and for the past weeks, it continues to eclipse its rival, My Dear Heart. There was a recent controversy that involve the show and its creative consultant, Suzette Doctolero. But Rose narrated, "Kung noong simula nga siguro ay ‘di ito ganu’n kabongga sa ratings, pero habang tumatagal, tumaas na ng tumaas which is good, KESA NAMAN NAGSIMULA SA MATAAS TAPOS BIGLANG BUMABA." The show will also be ending in May which is according to the network and the management's original plan. The show might not get an extension because the two will be very busy shooting for their second solo movie which will be starting in June 2017.
So is AlDub still a force to be reckoned with? Yes! Definitely & absolutely. As a matter of fact, Suzette Doctolero narrated that AlDub is the reason why "nalalaos ang mga loveteams sa kabila."
